Care Bears

Care Bears Cartoon 80's TV

In the 1980’s, if a toy was popular, a cartoon often came next.  The Care Bears was a Saturday morning cartoon, aimed at girls, that ran from 1985 to 1988 on ABC (later it moved to NBC and then to cable as the years rolled on).  In the United Kingdom, the show aired on the Children’s Channel.  The Bears, known for colorful hearts on their chests, lived up in the sky in a place they called Care-a-lot, and their main charter was to travel the world spreading good will while at the same time battling villains such as Professor Coldheart and Lord No Heart.

Characters included True Heart, Noble Heart, Bright Heart, Tender Heart, Brave Heart, Tugs, Cheer, Grumpy, Lotsa Heart, Beastly, Shreeky, Hugs, and more.  Episode names included “The Care Bears in the Land Without Feelings”, “The Care Bears Battle the Freeze Machine”, “The Forest of Misfortune”, “The Cloud of Uncaring”, etc.  This was a very popular cartoon that spawned an entire line of toys and gadgets that continues to be very popular.
