Axel Rudi Pell Hair Metal Band

Axel Rudi Pell was a German metal guitarist who played with the band Steeler (1984-1988) before striking out on his own in 1989.  His first solo release, Wild Obsession, was released in 1989, with a follow-up in 1991 (Nasty Reputation).   Axel Rudi Pell’s style, in our opinion, is old school, raw metal, reminiscent of what was released by metal bands in the early 1980’s, such as Helix or Fastway (and we really like this old stuff).  He is fond of his ballads, however, something you did not see as much of in the early 80’s.

Axel Rudi Pell has continued releasing over the years and he has stayed true to the metal sound of the 1980’s, unlike bands  like Queensryche and Ozzy Osbourne whose musical style evolved with the time.  At the time of this writing, he was still very active.
