Hardline was an early 1990’s metal project that included Neal Schon (Journey) on guitars and Johnny Gioelli on vocals. They released their first album, Double Eclipse, in 1992. This was the album that featured the song “Hot Cherie” and is one of our favorite metal gems to come out of the entire hair metal movement. Hardline was just too late to make it with their AOR metal style. After losing their record deal, Schon left the band and returned to Journey and the band went on a 10 year production hiatus.
After picking up the pieces years later, Hardline continued on and released their second album (titled II) in 2002. A number of their later songs are like a step back in time. We own all of their albums. Although band members changed over the years, Gioelli remained the band’s vocalist, which lends some continuity to the albums. The band was still active well into the 2010’s. The Hardline Discography is as follows:
- 1992: Double Eclipse
- 2002: II
- 2003: Live at the Gods Festival 2002
- 2009: Leaving the End Open
- 2012: Danger Zone
