Keel Hair Metal Band

Keel was an L.A. band formed in 1984 by Steeler vocalist Ron Keel.  Keel produced albums throughout the 80's, producing their first in 1984 (Lay Down the Law).  After a few band member changes, Keel caught the attention of Gene Simmons (Kiss).  Gene produced Keel's 1985 album, The Right to Rock, which included the signature song of the same name, and the 1986 album The Final Frontierwhich included the cover song "Because the Night".

Many people probably do not know that Keel beat out bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest for Metal Edge's 1986 magazine pole for "Best Band of the Year".   After Keel's 1990 release, the band parted ways.  Ron Keel went on to play country music as "Ronnie Lee Keel" and a metal country band called "Ironhorse".  Keel temporarily reunited in 1998 to release a new album called Back in Action, an album that mainly contained previously unreleased material.  In 2008, Keel re-united again to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the band.  New material was released and the band went on tour (Rocklahoma).  At the time of this writing, the Keel Discography was as follows:
