Kix Hair Metal Band

Okay, so they named themselves after the Saturday morning kid tested mother approved cereal, but they looked like hard rockers, didn't they?  The truth is, the band played on the connection between their name and that of the cereal.  The roots of the band Kix can be traced back to 1977 in Hagerstown, Maryland.  Early names for the band included "Shooze" and "The Generators".

Kix released their self-titled debut album in 1981 on Atlantic Records.  Prior to this, they had established themselves as a favorite live band act in Baltimore by playing six nights a week for three years in a row.  It has been said that Brett Michaels (Poison) often attended Kix shows before Poison was popular, and that Brett stole Steve Whiteman's stage act (Steve was the lead singer for Kix).

Cool Kids, released in 1983, included the songs "Body Talk" and "Mighty Mouth".  The band's 1985 release, Midnight Dynamite, included the songs "Cold Shower" and "Sex".  In support of their 1985 release, Kix toured with bands like Ratt, Warrant, and Winger.  The band's 1988 release, Blow My Fuse., was their greatest commercial success.  The album went platinum and their hit "Don't Close Your Eyes," from that album, actually hit the Billboard Top 50.  The band split in 1995.

At the time of this writing, the Kix Discography was as follows:
