Andy Taylor was an English guitar player best known as the guitarist for Duran Duran and the Power Station. Around 1986, Duran Duran had dissolution of sorts, and Taylor decided to team up with ex-Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones for a solo project. After all, although Duran Duran had been his bread and butter, heavy rock guitar was the real music in his blood, and some of his solo work could have easily landed him in the hair metal section of this site.
Andy Taylor’s first album was Thunder, released in 1987. Some of you may remember the moderately successful single “Don’t Let Me Die Young” from this album. His second album, released in 1990 (Dangerous), was essentially a series of harder-edged cover songs like “Feel Like Making Love”, “Lola”, and “Cocaine”. Needless to say, both of these are part of our collection. Taylor did continue on with both Duran Duran and The Power Station for additional releases, and at the time of this writing was still active in the music business. The Andy Taylor Discography is as follows:
- 1987: Thunder
- 1990: Dangerous
- 1999: The Spanish Sessions
