Nick Gilder Band

Singer songwriter Nick Gilder started his music career as the vocalist for the band Sweeney Todd in the mid 1970’s (they had a hit song titled “Roxy Roller”).  By the late 1970’s, riding the success of Sweeney Todd, Gilder started a solo career.  It was his second release as a solo album, City Nights, that featured the no. 1 hit song “Hot Child in the City” (a song about child prostitution).

Gilder continued producing throughout the 1980’s, 1990’s, and beyond.  As a British transplant to Canada, he fared much better on the Canadian charts than the US charts, but still had an 80’s presence in the USA.  Gilder was also the songwriter for a number of huge acts, including names like Patty Smyth, Bet Midler, Pat Benatar, Joe Cocker, and even the metal band Kix.  It is worth mentioning that it wasn’t until years later that we realized the vocalist for “Hot Child in the City” was not a female.  Gilder’s voice is very feminine.  The Nick Gilder Discography is as follows:
