After the 1977 plane crash that killed three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, surviving Lynyrd Skynyrd band members Allen Collins and Gary Rossington formed the southern rock band Rossington Collins. Other Lynryd Skynyrd members of the band included Billy Powell and Leon Wilkeson. To try and differentiate themselves from Lynryd Skynryd, they hired a female vocalist (Dale Krantz) and went on to release two albums in the 1980’s.
In our opinion, the Lynyrd Skynyrd connection was still pretty obvious. Their biggest hit was the 1980 song “Don’t Misunderstand Me”. The demise of the Rossington Collins bands was partially due to the reformation of Lynyrd Skynryd in 1987. Still, we own both studio albums and enjoy listening to them when the mood for southern rock strikes us. The Rossington Collins Band Discography is as follows:
