Russ Ballard Band

Britain’s Russ Ballard started his music career in the 1960’s.  He played in a number of different bands, including his stint as vocalist for the band Argent.  It was with the band Argent that he wrote the song “God Gave Rock and Roll to You”, which was later covered by both Petra and Kiss.  It was also Ballard on vocals for Argent’s hit song “Hold Your Head Up”.

In the mid 1970’s, Ballard left Argent to focus on a solo and song writing career.  Some of the songs he wrote that you might remember as a rock lover are the song “New York Groove”, which was recorded by the band Hello and later by Ace Frehley.  Rainbow’s hits “Since You Been Gone” and “I Surrender” were both pinned by Ballard, as was America’s song “You Can Do Magic” and Frida’s song “I Know There’s Something Going On” (plus many more).

As far as his solo career went, there were a few songs you may remember, such as “On the Rebound” from 1980, “Voices” from 1984, and “In the Night” also from 1984.  Ballard has continued his activity, with his latest recording (at the time of this writing) coming in 2015.  The Russ Ballard Discography is as follows:
