Basia Singer

Basia (born Basia Trzetrzelewska) was a Polish jazz singer who debuted in 1969 as a guest performer for a Polish band that ultimately won a talent contest.  Because of her participation in this talent show, Basia landed gigs with other bands throughout the 1970's, including Alibabki and Perfect.  Thus began her trek to 80's stardom.

In the early 1980's, Basia relocated to London where she hooked up with a couple of musicians and formed the band Bronze, which was later renamed to Matt Bianco.  This band released an album called Whose Side Are You On in 1984.  This album was a hit in the UK, and featured to top 40 hits:  "Get Out of Your Lazy Bed" and "Half a Minute".  In 1985, Basia left Matt Bianco to start a solo career.  In 1987,  Time & Tide was released.  This album was very successful, especially in the United States, and featured the hits "Time and Tide", "Prime Time TV", and "New Day for You".  In 1989, Basia released her second solo album, London, Warsaw, New York.  This follow up was also a huge success, and featured the hit songs "Cruising for Bruising" and the Stevie Wonder covers "Until You Come Back to Me" and "Baby You're Mine".

In the 1990's, Basia kept the success coming, although the greater majority of this success was outside of the USA.  Her 1994 release, The Sweetest Illusion, featured the hit song "Drunk on Love".  By 1998, despite her success, Basia left the recording industry due to family issues.  By 2004, her former band, Matt Bianco, was resurrected and Matt's Mood was released.  In 2009, Basia returned to the studio as a solo artist with It's That Girl Again and a again with a Live album, with some new material, in 2011.  At the time of this writing, the Basia Discography was as follows:
