Enya Singer

Eitne Ni Bhraonáin, aka Enya Brennan, aka Enya, was an Irish singer and songwriter that left a mark on the 80's.  Enya grew up in a musical family, and she found herself performing both on stage and in the church choir at a very young age.  In the late 1960's, Enya's older siblings formed a band called Clannad, and by 1980, Enya was part of the band.  In 1982, Enya decided to go solo, and she created her own recording studio.

Enya's first release was the 1984 album Touch Travel, but it wasn't until her 1987 release of the self titled album, Enya/The Celts, that she began using the name Enya.  Enya is the closet phonetically translated version of her given Irish name, Eitne, in the English language. Although Enyha had many more hits in her native Ireland than in the USA, most of you 80's fans will remember Enya for the hit song "Orinoco Flow (Sail Away)" from her 1988 release, Watermark. For those of you whose curiosity is strong, Orinoco was the name of a music studio.  This song reached the top of the charts in 5 countries, including the USA and UK, and the top 40 in 4 others.

Enya followed up her great success in 1991 with the release of Shepherd Moons, which featured the international hit songs "Caribbean Blue", "How Can I Keep from Singing", and "Book of Days".   Well into the 1990's and 2000's, Enya continued to produce new albums, and met with chart success in various countries at different times (including the USA and the UK).  Some of her greatest Billboard successes even came in the 2000's.  At the time of this writing, the Enya Discography was as follows:
