in 1984, is one of those iconic 80's movies that
continues to stand the test of time. Even the
song, Ghostsbusters, preformed by Ray Parker, Jr.,
continues to be a hit with 80's fans new and old.
The movie starred Bill Murray as Dr. Peter Venkman,
Dan Aykroyd as Dr. Raymond Stantz, Harold Ramis as Dr.
Egon Spengler, Rick Moranis as Louis Tully, and Sigourney
Weaver as Dana Barrett. The movie was considered
to be one of the best movies of 1984, and went on to
make huge money at the box office. The movie was
such a success, that Ghostbusters II was released in
1989, and a cartoon, called The Real Ghostbusters, ran
on T.V. from 1986 to 1991. As of 2014, a third
film had not been ruled out and steps were being taken
After being fired from their
jobs at Columbia University, Peter Venkman, Raymond
Stantz, and Egon Spengler decide to take up ghost
busting after reports of paranormal activity in NYC go
up considerably. After setting up base in an old
fire station, getting a ghostbusting ambulance, and
creating tools to capture ghosts, the team goes to work.
It doesn't take long before business is booming, and the
gang becomes local celebrities.
The boys are hired by
Dana Barrett (Weaver) to deal with a haunting in her
apartment by Zuul, a spirit servant of Gozer the
Gozerian. When Barrett is possessed by Zuul, and
her neighbor, Lous Tully (Moranis) by another demon
claiming to be Gozer's keymaster, things begin to get
out of hand. Just when they think they have Gozer
under control, it takes the shape of the Stay Putft
Marshmallow Man and begins destroying the city.
Thankfully, the boys defeat the Marshmallow Man, defeat
Gozer, and close the portal between the two worlds.
