Starman Soundtrack

Starring Jeff Bridges as Scott Hayden and Karen Allen as Jenny Hayden, Starman was a romantic sci-fi flick released in 1984.  The film received mostly positive reviews back in the day, with some critics considering the film to be one of the best to come out of 1984.  The movie did turn a profit, and was popular enough to warrant a short-lived TV series in 1986 that starred Robert Hays, Christopher Daniel Barnes, and Michael Cavanaugh.

In this movie, Voyager 2 is launched into space in 1977 as a beacon with a message of peace and invitation to visit earth.  The probe is intercepted by an alien ship, who decide to take the probe up on its invitation, and they send a scout ship to earth to make first contact.  And of course instead of welcoming the alien visitor, the government blasts the ship out of the sky.  The alien, which is more like ball lighting than human flesh, manages to survive.  It finds the home of Jenny Hayden (Allen), finds a lock of her recently deceased husbandís hair (Scott Hayden, played by Bridges), transforms itself into Scott.  Jenny, witnessing the entire thing, realizes that the Starman is not really her husband.

Starman convinces Jenny into helping him get to Arizona, where he must be in order to return home at the appointed time or he will croak, while at the same time being pursued by the government.  As Starman becomes more human through Jennyís teaching, and more like her husband, she falls in love with him.  At one point, she witnesses his ability to give life to the dead, which he does when he brings a dead deer back to life.  At one point, they have intercourse, and Starman purposely impregnates Sarah with what is essentially a child with the biological DNA of her deceased husband.  In the end, Starman is allowed to return home, and a heart broken Jenny returns home as well.
