GREATEST HITS
Here in My Car The Best of Gary Numan 1984-1998   Gary Numan Anthology   The Best of Gary Numan 1977-2002

Gary Anthony James Webb, aka Gary Numan, hailed from Great Brittain.  At 15, Gary's dad bought him a Gibson Les Paul, and it was not long before he was performing in various bands, including a band called Tubeway Amy with his Uncle.  Initially, Gary called himself Gary Valerian, but later changed it to "Numan" after seeing the name in a phone book.

By the late 1970's, Gary Numan was the vocals for Tubeway Amy, as well as producer and song writer.  Tubeway Amy put their name on the map with the release of their 1979 album, Replicas, which featured the no. 1 hit song "Are 'Friends' Electric?".  It was the same year that Gary released his first solo album, The Pleasure Principle, that featured the hit song "Cars".  Some of you may even remember the song "Complex" from this album as well.  The entire album used no guitars, but instead synthesizers.  In 1980, Gary Numan released the album Telekon, which featured the hit songs "We Are Glass", "I Die: You Die", and "This Wreckage".

As the 80's rolled on, Numan was not able to reproduce his earlier success, however he still had several hits.  Songs you may remember included "She's Got Claws" from Dance (1981), "We Take Mystery (To Bed)" from  I, Assasin (1982), "Warriors" and "Sister Surprise" from Warriors (1983), "Berserker" from Berserker (1984), "Change Your Mind" from Automatic (1985), "This is Love" and "I Can't Stop" from Strange Charm (1986).

Numan continued producing new music well into the 2000's.  He even had a single hit no. 13 in the UK in 2003.  Numan currently lives in L.A. with is family.  The Gary Numan Discography is as follows:
