GREATEST HITS

VH1 Behind the Music the Julian Lennon Collection

John Charles Julian Lennon, son of John Lennon (Beatles), was named after his paternal grandmother, Julia.  It is said that Julian was the inspiration for at least famous Beatles songs, including "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", "Good Night", and "Hey Jude".  In the early 70's, John Lennon bought Julian a guitar and a drum machine, showed him how to play, and the spark was ignited.  Julian actually played the drums on John Lennon's album Walls and Bridges, for the song "Ya-Ya".

Lennon's first album, Valotte, was released in 1984.  Not only did the album produce two top ten hits (the title track and a song called "Too Late for Goodbyes"), but it also netted John a Grammy Award nomination in 1985 for best new artist.  Although his second release, The Secret Value of Daydreaming (1986), did not do as well, it still featured the hit song "Stick Around".  Lennon's last 80's release, Mr. Jordan (1989), featured the hit song "Now You're in Heaven".

Lennon's last notable chart success was in 1991, with the release of Help Yourself, which featured the UK hit song "Saltwater".  Shortly after this release, Lennon left he music industry.  He was back in the studio by the mid 1990's, and several more albums were produced.  Other than an Indie chart hit in 2012, there were no other charting songs produced by Julian Lennon.  The Julian Lennon Discography is as follows:

  • 1984: Valotte
  • 1986: The Secret Value of Daydreaming
  • 1989: Mr. Jordan
  • 1991: Help Yourself
  • 1998: Photograph Smile

    TOO LATE FOR GOODBYE:
[starts] Ever since you've been leaving me, I've been wanting to cry, Now I know how it feels for you, I've been wanting to die, But it's much too late for goodbyes [etc]
