Fletch

"Meet the only guy who changes his identity more often than his underwear".  Fletch was released in 1985 and starred Chevy Chase as Irwin M. "Fletch" Fletcher.  For the most part, Fletch received positive reviews from critics, and it was both a box office and VHS rental hit.  Fletch was successful enough to warrant a sequel, and Fletch Lives was released in 1989 (it was a flop with critics, but did make money).  The original movie continues to be a cult hit.

The movie was about a reporter, Fletch, who is working undercover on a story about drug trafficking on the local beach scene.  While working under cover on the beach, the executive vice president of Boyd Aviation, Alan Stanwyk, thinks that Fletch is a junkie, and talks him into a plan to kill him, claiming to be terminally ill, and paying Fletch $50k to do it.

A suspicious Fletch agrees to the deal, but first decides to investigate Stanwyk, and after disguising himself in a number of ways and infiltrating Stanwyk's life, Fletch soon finds out that not only was Stanwyk lying about his cancer, but that he was also some how mixed up with some scheme involving the LAPD.  In the end, Fletch exposes Stanwyk's con and the LAPD's involvement in a drug ring.
