"For everyone who's ever been deeply in love or deeply in debt".  The Money Pit was a 1986 comedy that starred Tom Hanks as Walter Fielding, Jr. and Shelly Long as Anna Crowley.  The movie was a remake of a 1948 film titled Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, which starred Cary Grant.  The movie received mixed reviews from critics; however it was very profitable at the box office, ultimately making 55 million on a 10 million dollar budget.

In this movie, Walter (Hanks) and his girlfriend, Anna (Long), must find a new place to live.  Looking for a good deal, the couple learns about a distressed mansion for sale at a bargain price.  After borrowing money to buy the house in any way they can, the two move into their "dream" home, which actually turns into a fiscal and emotional nightmare.  The house is in deplorable condition, with major things falling apart left and right, and Walter and Anna hire contractors to fix things up.  The house becomes a money pit, and when it appears that Anna is back with her ex-husband, their relationship also begins to crumble.  In the end, the two reconcile, and the house is eventually repaired, where it is presumed they live happily ever after.
