The Muppets Take Manhattan Movie Poster

The Muppets Take Manhattan, released in 1984, was not the first silver screen Muppet movie released.  The popularity of the Muppet Show warranted a number of movies, including The Muppets Movie in 1979, The Great Muppet Caper in 1981, and several others post 1980's.  Focusing on the Muppets Take Manhattan, the movie received mostly positive reviews and. although it did not make as much money as earlier films, it was still a financial success.

In this movie, the gang decided to take their new show, called "Manhattan Melodies", on the road, and they head to Broadway in New York City.  At first, they have a difficult time finding a production company.  They run out of money, and the troop must split up, with various Muppets taking jobs all over the country as Kermit remained in NYC to work on the script.

At first, Kermit's attempt at gorilla marketing to garner a theatrical production company does not go well, but eventually he lands a deal.  Everyone is called back to NYC to get started.  Unfortunately, Kermit gets hit by a car, gets a case of amnesia, and begins a new life as the play gets going without him.  After a chance run in with Mrs. Piggy, who gives him a good punch, Kermit regains his memory, and the show ends up being a huge success.  In the end, Mrs. Piggy and Kermit get married and everyone lives happily ever after...until the next film.
