Star Trek the Wrath of Kahn Movie Poster

Okay, okay, we admit it, we are Trekkies here at ilovethe80s.com.  The first Star Trek motion picture was released in 1979, The Wrath of Kahn in 1982, The Search for Spock in 1984, The Voyage Home in 1986.  The Final Frontier in 1989, and The Undiscovered Country in 1991.  Of course the Picard crew had a couple of cool flicks post 1991, and the newest reboot series (2009 and beyond) is very cool.  All 80's movies featured the original crew (Spock, Kirk, McCoy, etc.).

For those who just fell off a turnip truck, the entire Star Trek film series was based on the TV series that aired on NBC from 1966 to 1969.  The shown was canceled at the end of its three year run due to poor ratings, but the popularity of reruns in the 1970's gave the show new life, and a movie was produced.  Although the first movie wasn't a huge success, it did well enough to warrant a sequel, and Wrath of Kahn is thought to have brought the franchise back to life.

In the original movie, the Enterprise is given the task of finding out the mystery behind a huge energy cloud on its way to earth, destroying everything in its past.  The Wrath of Kahn was a continuation of one of the TV series shows were Khan was banned to a barren planet after trying to hijack the ship.  He sets a trap for the Enterprise to seek his revenge.  In the Search for Spock, the crew tries to save their old friend who had transferred his essence into McCoy at the end of the last movie.

In the Voyage Home, the crew once again must save earth from a giant probe that is transmitting a destructive single, but in reality the probe is trying find extinct whales, which the crew must travel back in time to capture and bring to the future to pacify the probe.  In the Final Frontier, Spock's brother hijacks the Enterprise in an effort to find God.  The Undiscovered Country, in many ways, was a hand off film to Picard's crew.
