M.A.C.H. 3

M.A.C.H. 3 Arcade Game

M.A.C.H. 3 was a somewhat rare laserdisc arcade game released in the USA (1983) under the Mylstar brand.  The game’s name was meant to be a play on words, referring to both high speed and “Military Air Command Hunter”.  In the game, the player controlled a fast jet in one of two missions.  There was a face forward mission where the pilot flew a fighter jet plane straight ahead, and a bombing mission where the player played from a top down perspective flying a bomber.  In the fighter mission, the player could choose whether or not to battle ground or sky targets.  Similar to the laserdisc game Firefox, M.A.C.H. 3 provided the user with digitized jets over live action footage.

Some of you may recall that in later stages of the game, you have to fly around nuclear fallout.  All in the all, if the player was successful in playing the game, total playing time was 15 minutes, at which time they player would land at an airport.
