Fates Warning Hair Metal Band

Fates Warning formed in Hartford, Connecticut in 1982.  Fates Warning was one of few successful the "Progressive Metal' bands of the 80's.  For those who don't know, Progressive Metal is probably best described as a combination between heavy guitar and classical music.  Fates Warning was one of the earliest bands to play this type of music, a genre made more popular in later years by groups like Queensryche and Dream Theatre.  In our opinion, the sound of Fates Warning is more closely related to Metallica than Queensryche.

The first release by Fates Warning, Night On Brocken, was released in 1984 under the Metal Blades label.  The progressive sound began in earnest by the time their second album was released in 1985 (The Spectre Within).  Several of the band's 80's albums charted (Billboard Top 200).  No Exist, which was released in 1988, was the album that charted the highest (number 111 out of 200).
