Lion Hair Metal Band

Yes indeed, ladies and gentleman, another band named after a big cat.  The original name of this band was "Lyon".  Lion formed in 1983 in Los Angeles by some veteran rockers and their debut was a single released on the Friday the 13th Part 4 soundtrack called "Love is a Lie."  They also had soundtrack credit for the movie The Wraith, starring Charlie Sheen.  American fans of this band may not know that the band did have a 1986 album, released in Japan only, called Power Love, which made them an instant hit (in Japan, that is).  Lion also recorded the title track for the original Transformers movie.  It was Lion's 1987 official US debut release, Dangerous Attraction, that was their most successful release.  Their 1989 release, Trouble in Angel City, included the Slade cover song "Lock Up Your Daughters" as well as the re-release of the 1986 Power Love songs.

In 1989, the band ran into trouble after the drummer broke his neck in a motorcycle accident.  Shortly after, they disbanded.  Members of the band ended up on other band projects that might have familiar names, such as White Lion, Dio, Whitesnake, Dirty Looks, and House of Lords among others  The drummer, Mark Edwards, actually went on to become a stock broker (probably the best move considering the market for new hair metal).  At the time of this writing, the Lion Discography was as follows:
