Kenny Loggins Singer

Kenneth Clark "Kenny" Loggins, who split his childhood between Seattle, Detroit, and Alhambra, CA, started his first band just out of high school in the late 1960's.  The band was called Second Helping, and they released three singles on Viva Records.  After Second Helping, Loggins played in a few other bands, and even wrote some songs for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

In the early 70's, Loggins met a musician and record producer named Jim Messina, and after some collaboration between the two, the band Loggins & Messina was born, with several studio albums to follow.  They became the most successful duo of the early 1970's.  By 1976, the two talented artists amicably split to pursue respective solo career.  Loggins released his first solo album in 1977 (Celebrate Me Home).  Some of you may remember the song "I Believe in Love" from this album.  Other 70's hits for Loggins include "Whenever I Call You Friend", "Keep the Fire", and "This Is It".

In 1980, Kenny Loggins released the top 10 song "I'm Alright", from the Caddyshack movie soundtrack.  This was just the beginning for him, and many of his successes came from mega-popular 80's movie soundtracks.  Loggins had a number of hits in the 1980's:  "Don't Fight It" (with Steve Perry), "Heart to Heart", and "Welcome to Heartlight" from High Adventure (1982), "Footloose" and "I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)" from the Footloose movie soundtrack, "Forever" and the title track from Vox Humana (1985), "Danger Zone" from the Top Gun movie soundtrack, "Meet Me Half Way" from the Over the Top movie soundtrack, and "Nobody's Fool" from the Caddyshack II soundtrack.

Kenny Loggins' final album from the 80's, Back to Avalon (1988), produced no top 40 hits.  Loggins continued releasing new material well into the 1990's and 2000's, and he has met with some success on the Adult Contemporary charts.  In 2005, Loggins and Messina joined forces again for a new album.  At the time of this writing in late 2013, his latest venture was as a member of the country band Blue Sky Riders.  The Kenny Loggins Discography is as follows:
