Nicholas David Kershaw, aka Nik Kershaw, was an 80's teen idol and jazz-funk guitarist from Great Britain. Growing up in Ipswich, Suffolk, Kershaw played in a number of bands in his school days, having taught himself how to play the guitar. In 1982, he split from the band Fusion and embarked on a solo career.
Kershaw's first single, "Wouldn't It Be Good", was released in 1984 and became a big hit in the UK and several other European countries. The video for the song received heavy rotation on MTV. "Wouldn't It Be Good" was released on his debut album, Human Racing (1983), which also featured the hit songs "I Won't Let the Sun Go Down on Me", "Human Racing", and "Dancing Girls". Kershaw released The Riddle in 1984, which featured the hit title track, "Wild Boy", and "Don Quixote". His last charting songs of the 80's were "Nobody Knows" and the title track from Radio Musicola (1986).
Although Kershaw's popularity quickly began to disappear by the mid 1980's, he continued doing well as a songwriter and performer, collaborating with Elton John. Kershaw continued in studio and on stage well into the 1990's and beyond. He was producing and touring well into the 2010's. The Nik Kershaw Discography is as follows:
