Nu Shooz Band

Nu Shooz was an R&B group from Portland, Oregon that consisted of husband and wife John Smith and Valerie Day.  When Nu Shooz first formed back in 1979, there were 12 band members.  They released their first studio album in 1982, called Can't Turn It Off.  The album did not do very well, and by the time their next album hit shelves, they were down to 7 band members.

In 1985, Nu Shooz released the single "I Can't Wait", which became a big hit in Portland and was re-mixed and released in the Netherlands.  This version, referred to as the "Dutch Mix", made it back to the USA and ultimately got the group a record deal with Atlantic.  This song, in addition to the hit song "Point of No Return" and the minor hit "Don't Let Me Be the One", were released on Poolside (1986).  Their 1988 release, Told U So (1987), was not nearly as successful, but did feature a couple of charting songs:  "Should I Say Yes" and "Are You Lookin' for Somebody Nu".

After their 1988 release, Nu Shooz went on a very long hiatus.  In 2007, the band was reincarnated as the "Nu Shhoz Orchestra", and a new album was released in 2010.  Nu Shooz continued in studio and on stage well into the 2010's.  The Nu Shooz Discography is as follows:
