Roderick David "Rod" Stewart is one of Britain's most recognized musical stars. He grew up in an average family, and took an interest in music in his teenage years, playing the guitar with school friends. He quit school at 15 in hopes of playing professional football (seriously). After not being asked back post athletic trials, he settled on a career in music instead.
In the 1960's, while living at home and working for his family, Stewart bounced around from band to band, until landing a more permanent gig in the mid 1960's with a band called The Hoochie Choochie Men. During this time, Stewart began pursuing a solo career, while also performing with other bands. His big break came in the late 1960's when Jeff Beck invited him to be the vocalist for the Jeff Beck Group, and later as a member of the band Faces. During this time, Stewart never gave up on his solo efforts, and his first solo release hit shelves in 1969.
Rod Stewart had a ton of hits in the 70's and 80's, releasing many albums. Some 70's song highlights include "Maggie May", "You Wear It Well", "Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright)", "Sailing", "The First Cut is the Deepest", and "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?". Some notable 80's hits were "Passion", "Tonight I'm Yours (Don't Hurt Me)", "Young Turks", "Baby Jane", "What Am I Gonna Do (I'm So in Love with You"), "Infatuation", "Some Guys Have All the Luck", "Love Touch", "My Heart Can't Tell You No", "Crazy About Her", "Forever Young", and "Downtown Train".
Stewart continued producing well into the 1990's, 2000's, and 2010's, with some chart success. At the time of this writing in early 2014, Rod Stewart was still very active and as popular as ever. The Rod Stewart Discography is as follows:
