Tommy Tutone Band

Tommy Heath and Jim Keller formed Tommy Tutone in 1978 in California as the two played local clubs in the San Francisco area.  The two were the only mainstay members of the band during its heyday.  Heath was the vocalist, while Jim was the lead guitarist.  Originally, the band was called Tommy and the Tu-tone's, but it was shortened at some point.  They landed a record deal with Columbia in 1980.

Tommy Tutone's released their first self-titled album in 1980, which featured the top 40 Billboard hit "Angel Say No".  It was their follow release, 1981's Tommy Tutone 2, that was their claim to fame.  This was the album that featured the hit song "867-5309/Jenny".  This song was a major hit in the early 80's and a standard 80's compilation inclusion.  The number itself caused the band some issues.  They received threats of lawsuits from very people who actually owned the number.  For example, this phone number was the actual number of the Buffalo, NY Chief of Police's daughter.

Tommy Tutone split up after the 1983 release of the album National Emotion.  Tommy Heath did release two additional albums in the 1990's as Tommy Tutone.  Although Tommy and Jim no longer perform together, there were still very active in the 2010's.  The Tommy Tutone Discography is as follows:
