“Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It’s fun to be a vampire."  The Lost Boys was a horror flick released in 1987.  It had a big cast of heavy hitters, including Keifer Sutherland, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Jami Gertz, and Jason Patric.  The movie did well at the box office, more than tripling its budget, and has continued to be categorized as an iconic 80's movie.  For the most part, critics liked the movie, even though some complained that it was not without its flaws.  Roger Ebert commented that the cast helped to make up for plot deficiencies.  It is worth noting that a sequel to the movie, titled the Lost Girls, was in the works in the early 1990's, but never completed.

In this movie, Michael Emerson (Jason Patric) and his brother Sam (Corey Haim) move to Santa Clara, CA and begin hanging out at the boardwalk, where they meet David (Keifer Sutherland).  It turned out that David was the leader of a gang of vampires.  David manages to convince Michael to join the gang, and after drinking blood, Michael starts to turn into a vampire.  It turned out that as long as a newly transforming vampire had not killed anybody, then the situation could be reversed if the head vampire was killed.  Thus Michael's brother Sam, with the help of Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman), goes about the business of trying to save his brother by killing David.  After impaling David and seeing no change in Michael or his girlfriend, they soon realize that the head vampire was somebody else.  In the end, that head vampire is killed and Michael is saved.
