Super Powers
We all know the DC Comics Super Powers team has been around a lot longer than the 80's, but the 80's brought its own version of Super Powers toys. In 1984, DC Comics gave Kenner the toy license for their characters in an effort to capitalize on the popularity of Kenner’s success with He-Man and Star Wars action figures.
Some of the action figures included Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Lois Lane, Aquaman, the Flash, the Joker, Lex Luthor, the Penguin, and Hawkman. Kenner made the characters unique by creating a triggered action for each of them, whereby squeezing arms or legs would cause some type of action. For example, Aquaman had the deep sea kick, Batman had the bat punch, and Flash had lightning legs. When it was all said and done, Kenner had released 34 characters, 8 vehicles, and one playset.
