"You are cordially invited to spend an evening with Roger Cobb and his friends.  Don't come alone!  Horror has found a new home."  House was a comedy horror film released in 1986.  The movie starred William Katt as Roger Cobb and George Wendt as Harold Gorton.  Although the movie received mixed reviews, it was a big financial success at the box office.  It was popular enough to warrant several sequels:  House 2: The Second Story (1987), House III: The Horror Show (1989), and House IV (1992).

In the original movie, Roger Cobb (Katt) is a horror novelist working on a new book.  Things are not going very well for him as he has separated from his wife, his only son has disappeared, and his favorite Aunt has committed suicide.  In an effort to isolate himself from his troubles and work on his novel, he moves into his Aunt’s house, where he spent much time as a child.  He soon finds himself having terrible nightmares, and strange things are happening in the house, like monsters, gremlins, and an old Vietnam era fellow soldier trying to kill him.

Soon, Roger discovers an entry into the netherworld in the bathroom medicine cabinet, and while peering in, he is pulled through by some unseen force.  In the darkness, he finds his lost son, and both escape.  In the end, Roger is able to battle his “demons”, putting behind him his trouble Vietnam war memories.
