Tygers of Pan Tang Hair Metal Band

Tygers of Pan Tang was a metal band that formed in England in the late 1970's.  The band's name refers to a fictional place in a story called Elric of Melnibone, where wizards in that story kept tigers as pets.  After playing local bars and making a name for themselves, Tygers of Pan Tang inked a deal with MCA and released their album, Wild Cat, in 1980.  The album was a huge success, ultimately hitting no. 18 on the UK Album Chart.

Fans of John Sykes may or may not know he played with this band from 1980 to 1982.  It was in the early 80's that the band realized their greatest success.  Ultimately, their 1982 release, The Cage, was their highest charting album. After having some trouble with MCA in the early 80's, Tygers of Pan Tang split up, only to reform again in 1985 to release some more material.  Their second run was not as fruitful, and the band split up once again in 1987.  They would not play together again until 1999, at which time they re-joined for some shows and subsequent new material.  At the time of this writing, the Tygers of Pan Tang Discography was as follows:
