Silver Screen
We admit it, many of those 80's action movies you remember so fondly are cornier than the Green Giant, such as Red Dawn, Robocop, and Predator. Others have seemingly stood the test of time, like Back to the Future, First Blood, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Whether it sucked back then, sucks now, or still rocks, we feature it here.
The 80's were chalked full of good comedies, some of which continue to be pretty darn funny. From cult classics like A Christmas Story, to teenage testosterone filled flicks like Weird Science, we've captured a ton of them. Check it out and see if we included your favorites.
Every decade needs good tear jerkers, and the 80's produced some real gems, like An Officer and a Gentleman, Driving Miss Daisy, On Golden Pond, and Steel Magnolias. Check out this section to see what movies what made your parents cry in the 1980's (remember, you were watching movies like the Goonies and the Never Ending Story).
There is little doubt that contemporary horror flicks completely demolish the horror movies of the 1980's as far as raw fear is concerned, but many of the flicks listed in this section were scary by 1980's standards, like Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Nightmare on Elm Street. Then there were those 80's horror flicks that were 50% horror and 50% comedy, such as Critters, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and even Gremlins.
There is a strong correlation between high intelligence and a love for science fiction, and we admit it, we love science fiction. The 80's brought some fantastic sci-fi films to the screen. Many of you will immediately think of Return of the Jedi and the Search for Spock, but what about flicks like the Dark Crystal and the Last Starfighter?
