U.D.O. Hair Metal Band

In 1987, after leaving the band Accept, lead singer Udo Dirkschneider formed the band U.D.O.  For those not familiar with Udo, his voice is unmistakable.  Those who remember the Accept song "Balls to the Wall" will know Udo's voice.  As a solo artist, Udo continued a back-to-the-basics style of heavy metal reminiscent of the early days of Accept.  U.D.O. released two albums in the 1980's, Animal House in 1987 and Mean Machine in 1988.  It was the band's 1990 release, Faceless World, that was their most successful release.

In 1992, the original Accept line-up was back in business, so Udo's side project was put on hold until the late 1990's.  As the years have rolled on, U.D.O. has continued producing.  A number of these later albums are good continuations of old school metal.  At the time of this writing, the U.D.O. discography was as follows:
