Vixen Hair Metal Band

No, that is not Whitesnake.  Vixen was one of the few all female heavy metal bands to come out of the 1980's.  Vixen formed in St. Paul, MN back in 1980 by high school guitarist Jan Kuehnemund.  By 1985, the band had moved to Los Angeles to put themselves directly in the thick on the metal scene.

Over the years, the members of Vixen changed, but by they time they signed with EMI Records, the lineup had solidified to include the lovely ladies we remember today.  Vixen's 1988 self-titled release featured the hit "Edge of a Broken Heart", which was actually co-written and partially performed (keyboards) by none other than Richard Marx.  Vixen toured with bands like Ozzy Osbourne, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Kiss, and Deep Purple.

In 1990, Vixen released the album Rev It Up. By 1991, Vixen had broken up.  Over the years, Vixen has been re-born in one form or another, and over the years the band has continued to produce new material and go on tour.  At the time of this writing, the Vixen Discography was as follows:
