XALT was a Christian metal band that formed in 1987.  XALT released their first album, Dark War, in 1988 on an independent label.  The mild success of this album, in addition to the band's winning of a regional band competition, earned the group a record deal with Refuge Records.  Their second release, Under the Ruins, was released on this label and featured the songs "Piercing the Darkness" and "Lost without You".  The success of this album put the group on a world tour, where they ended up being the first American band to play in El Salvador at that point in history.

XALT's third album, Under the Ruins, was released under the Starsong label in 1991.  Some songs you may remember from this release include "Standing", "Walk Away", and "Unconditional Love".  Their final album, released in 1997, is more of a rock album than a metal album.
