XYZ Hair Metal Band

XYZ was an appropriate name for this late 80's band, since the last few letters of the alphabet make a nice analogy in regard to the last few years of hair metal.  Here we are talking about the hair metal band XYZ, and not the ex-Yes, ex- Zepplin project by Jimmy Page in 1981.  The metal band XYZ started out in the late 1980's as a regular bar band in Hollywood and at The Whiskey in Los Angeles.  Their self-titled debut was produced by Don Dokken in 1989 and featured the songs "Inside Out" and "What Keeps Me Loving You".  XYZ toured with Alice Cooper and Enuff 'Z Nuff in support of this album.  Their debut reached 99 on the Billboard Charts.

In 1991, XYZ released their next album, Hungry.  Some of you may remember the song and subsequent MTV video from this album called "Faced Down in the Gutter".  This album did not do nearly as well as their initial offering, and it did not take long before the band split up.  Other metal groups that XYZ has toured with over the years include Ozzy, Dokken, and Dio.  In later years, the band also toured with Soundgarden and Alice and Chains.

Over the years, XYZ has continued to produce new material (Letter to God, for example), and perform at mega metal tours such as Rocklahoma and Monsters of Rock.  At the time of this writing, the XYZ Discography was as follows:
