Chris De Burgh Singer

Christopher John Davison, aka Chris de Burgh, was born in Argentina (his dad was a British diplomat) and eventually settled down in Ireland.  It was during his childhood days in Ireland that he began honing his music skills by performing for the hotel guests in the hotel that Davison's family owned. It was at this time in his life that he took the stage name de Burgh.

In 1974, Chris de Burgh landed a contract with A&M records, and subsequently went on tour with Supertramp.  His debut album, Far Beyond These Castle Walls, was released in 1975.  As the 1970's rolled on and de Burgh continued to produce new albums, he was never able to break into the charts in the USA or UK, but was a huge success in other European and South American countries.

By the early 1980's, de Burgh's success in the UK and USA began to change.  Some of you may remember the song "Don't Pay the Ferryman" from The Getaway (1982).  Man on the Line (1984) also did well, charting at 11 in the UK.  It was Chris de Burgh's 1986 release, Into the Light, that brought him his greatest all around success.  This album featured the song "Lady in Red", which was a number 1 hit in the UK and number 3 in the USA.  The re-release of the 1976 song, "A Spaceman Came Traveling", became a top 40 hit in the UK in late 1986.

Chris De Burgh's last release in the 80's was Flying Colors (1988).  This album did not fair nearly as well as its predecessor, and de Burgh essentially began his slide out of the limelight.  De Burgh has continued performing and releasing new material since the hey days of the 80's.  At the time of this writing, the Chris de Burgh Discography was as follows:
