Brighton Rock was a Canadian metal band that formed in the Niagara Falls area in the early 1980’s, and most of their success was limited to their home country. Things starting taking off for them after a local radio station showed them favor, the independently released a self-titled EP in 1985. The landed a record deal with Warner, and their first full-length album was released in 1986 (titled Young, Wild, and Free). This album featured the hit songs “We Came to Rock” and “Can’t Wait for the Night”.
Brighton Rock did release a follow-up in the 80’s, as well as an early 90’s release. It was shortly after this release that guitarist Greg Fraser left to join the band Helix and the band broke up. They hooked back up in the early 2000’s for a new tour and a live release. Over the years, they have continued performing now and again, with their latest known material to be a new song released on a charity album called A World with Heroes. Brighton Rock was a solid metal band, and given the popularity of heavy metal in the mid to late 1980’s, it is a bit surprising they were not as well-known in the USA. They do have a greatest hits release.
