Toto Band

Toto, an L.A. band that formed in the late 1970's, was the coming together of a number of talented session musicians.  With connections in the music industry and a number of accolades under their belt Columbia Records signed the band to a record deal in 1977.  The name of the band started out as a bit of a joke, with the reference being to the dog Toto in the Wizard of Oz, but later, after learning the word meant "all-encompassing" in Latin, they decided it described them well.

Toto debuted in 1978 with a self-titled album that did very well.  It featured the hit song "Hold the Line".  Their follow up release, Hydra (1980), featured the hit song "St. George and the Dragon".  Their 1981 arena rock release, Turn Back, was not a major standout, but the same cannot be said for Toto IV, which was released in 1982.  This album featured the hit songs "Africa", "Rosanna", "I Won't Hold Back", and "Make Believe".  Although this album was the heyday for the band, were a few other charting hits from the 80's you may remember, including "I'll Be Over You" and "Without Your Love" from Fahrenheit (1986), and "Pamela" from The Seventh One (1988).

Toto has been on again and off again since the 1980's, with a number of reunion tours and new studio material.  They continued to be very active in the 2010's, both in studio and on stage.  The Toto Discography is as follows:
