Scandal was formed in NYC in 1981 by guitarist and primary songwriter, Zack Smith. Interestingly enough, in the band's very early days, even Jon Bon Jovi was a member (guitarist). The vocalist was Patty Smyth, who would later go on to a successful solo career after turning down Eddie Van Halen's offer to be their next lead singer after the departure of David Lee Roth.
Scandal released their self-titled album in 1982. Although it only found minor success on the Billboard charts, it did feature two top 40 hits on the US Mainstream Rock Charts: "Goodbye to You" and "Love's Got a Line On You". The greatest success came with the release of The Warrior in 1984, which featured the hit songs "The Warrior", "Hand's Tied", and "Beat of a Heart". Many of you will remember the songs "Goodbye to You" from 1982, and "Warrior" from 1984.
After their 1984 album tour was over, Scandal had split as Patty Smyth went onto a solo career (you might remember her song "Never Enough" from 1987). In 2000's, the band reunited for a number of concerts, and in 2008 they released new digital material. On a sad note, several of the original members have passed away. At the time of this writing, the Scandal Discography was as follows:
