Jag Panzer was a metal band that formed in the early 1980’s in Colorado Springs (not a town you generally associate with heavy metal). The band’s name is a reference to the Panzer tanks of Germany (literally Jagdpanzer, which means “hunting tank” in German). The band recorded their first EP in 1983, and then shortly thereafter moved to California and hired Joey Tafolla on guitar. The band’s first album, Ample Destruction, was released in 1984.
Tafolla left the band in 1986 to work on a solo project, as did some other members, so the line-up had changed dramatically by the time the late 80’s rolled in. The band continued producing, and oddly enough, their greatest success came with the release of the album The Scourge of the Light in 2011. As of 2016, Joey Tafolla was back with the band and they were still very active. The Jag Panzer Discography is as follows:
