Little Shop of Horrors
"Meet me at the funniest shop in town." Little Shop of Horrors was a musical-comedy re-released in 1986 (original in 1960). It starred Rick Moranis as Seymour Krelborn, Bill Murray as Arthur Denton, Steve Martin as Orin Scrivello, James Belushi as Patrick Martin, Ellen Greene as Audrey, and John Candy as Wink Winkinson. Not only did the movie sit well with critics, but it was a box office success as well.
In this movie, Seymour Krelborn (Moranis) and Audrey (Greene) work at a dumpy, floundering flower shop. Business begins to pick up when he decides to display a plant he bought in a Chinese flower shop, called Aubrey II, that required blood to live. Seymour is in love with Audrey, but her sadistic boyfriend, a dentist named Orin (Martin), stands in the way. When the plant begin demanding human flesh instead of mere blood, Seymour gets the idea to off Orin and feed him to the plant.
After a few more "feedings", and attempted feedings, including the plant trying to eat Audrey, Seymour begins to realize that the plant intends to take over the world, and he realizes he must kill the plant. In the end, he kills the plant and he and Aubrey live happily ever after. In the real Broadway musical, everyone actually dies, and the plant gets bred and ends up trying to take over the world. It was decided to make a more happier ending to please audiences.
