"They're Here". There were a total of 4 Poltergeist movies released, three in the 80's (1982, 1986, and 1988), and a remake of the first one in 2015. Focusing on the original, the movie starred Craig T. Nelson as Steven Freeling, JoBeth Williams as Diane Freeling, and Heather O'Rourke as Carol Anne Freeling. The movie was considered by critics to be one of the best films of 1982, and it turned into a huge financial success.
In the original movie, the Freeling family lives in a quiet California suburb. Strange things began happening in their new house, as daughter Carol Anne (Heather O'Rourke) begins to sit in front of a static filled television set, where she hears voices. Strange things begin to happen, such as furniture spontaneously moving, a tree trying to kidnap one of the Freeling children, and Carol Anne slipping into some type of portal in her closet (she can be heard from within the TV).
The Freelings invite some parapsychologists to the house, who tell them they have a poltergeist infestation, and they later find out the house had been built on old cemetery, and those below were none too happy about it. The rest of the movie is about how the Freelings battle the poltergeists and rescue Carol Anne, ultimately ending when they family permanently moves away.
