Mastedon was a Christian Rock studio band project formed by Dino and John Elefante in the mid 1980’s (John Elefante was the lead singer for the band Kansas starting in 1981). Mastedon released their first album, It’s a Jungle Out There, in 1989. The title track is probably the hardest edged song in the band’s career, and had all of their songs sounded like this one, we would have put them in the hair metal section of this site. The greater majority of their songs, with John Elefante on vocals, are reminiscent of the band Kansas from the early 1980’s.
If you like the John Elefante pinned Kansas hits “Fight Fire with Fire” and “Play the Game Tonight”, then you will like Mastedon. At the time of this writing, John and Dino Elefante were still active with Mastedon. The Mastedon Discography is as follows:
- 1989: It’s a Jungle Out There!
- 1990: Lofcaudio
- 2009: 3
