Refugee Band

Refugee, not to be confused with the 70’s band using the same name, was a radio-friendly 80’s AOR rock band from Canada that formed in the late 70’s as a band called Michael Fury (named after a James Joyce character in a short story called “The Dead”).  Michael Fury, having already released Refugee’s first album under that moniker, picked up a record contract and re-recorded the songs on the album and released them as the band Refugee in 1985.  The band would go on to release only one other album, that being Burning from the Inside Out (1987).

Refugee is a lost gem to many fans of AOR rock.  Both of these albums are very good, and we consider Refugee to be one of our favorite rock bands that came out of the 1980’s.  It is very strange that they did not fare better on the charts.  The Refugee Discography is as follows:
