The Outfield Band

The Outfield was one of those great, well-rounded, drug free 80's British rock bands that had a number of signature songs you will remember.  The roots of the band The Outfield can be traced back to the late 1970's, when future members found themselves as members of bands with names like Sirius B and The Baseball Boys.  Around 1984, as The Baseball Boys, the band landed a record deal in both the UK and in the USA.  American execs suggested they change their name, and staying with the Baseball theme, they changed to The Outfield.

The Outfield's debut release, Play Deep, was released in 1985 and featured the hit song "Your Love".  The album reached the top 10 in the US, and the song charted at number 6.  The band supported this album by touring with Journey and Starship.  The Outfield released Bangin' in 1987, and although it was not as popular as their freshman effort, it did produce the hit songs "Since You've Been Gone" and "No Surrender".  A tour with Night Ranger followed.  The band released Voices of Babylon in 1989.  Although the band's popularity continued to decline, this album did feature the title track as a hit song as well as a minor hit called "My Paradise".  The early 90's found the band with several minor hits:  "For You" (Diamond Days, 1990), "One Hot County" (soundtrack for If Looks Could Kill, 1991), "Closer to Me", and "Winning It All" (both from Rockeye, 1992).

By the mid 1990's, The Outfield had taken a hiatus.  They did not have the same popularity in the UK that they had in the United States.  They found themselves playing small pubs back home where most folks in the crowd were unaware of their popularity in the USA.  As the years have rolled on, the band has continued their activity both on stage and in studio.  At the time of this writing, The Outfield Discography was as follows:
