Cereal Boxes of the 80's
For whatever reason, every popular movie, TV show, or video game turned into cereal in the 1980's. Cereal makers are still doing this, but not to the degree they were in the 80's. We are not talking about those cereals that were around long before the 80's, such as Alpha-Bits, Apple Jacks, Cocoa Puffs, Cheerios, Trix, Cap'n Crunch, Lucky Charms, Froot Loops, etc., but instead those cereals that were clearly based on some aspect of 80's pop culture. Even cereals like Count Chocula, Boo Berry, and Franken Berry had early 70's roots. In the 80's, we had cereal like E.T. Cereal. Based on the popular 1982 movie by Steven Spielberg, General Mills first introduced E.T. Cereal in 1984 (it only lasted 2 years). Other 80's cereals you might remember? How about Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Cabbage patch Kids, California Raisins, C-3P0's, Donkey Kong (and Donkey Kong Jr.), G.I. Joe, Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Nerds, Nintendo Cereal System, Rainbow Brite, Pac-Man, Smurf-Berry Crunch, and Mr. T.
