Wizard of Wor
Wizard of Wor was developed by Midway and released in 1980. The game was popular enough to find its way into systems like the Atari 2600 and Bally Astrocade. In this game, one or two players would their way around a monster-infested maze. Players, called "Worriors", were required to kill the monsters. Each player controlled two Worriors each (blue or yellow), and could either team up to extend game play, or shoot each other as well as the monsters.
Monsters, in order of difficulty, included the wolfish Burwor, the dinosaur-like Garwor, the scorpion-like Thorwor, the insect-like Worluk, and a wizard called the Wizard of Wor. If players passed through the first 7 levels, they would then be referred to as "Worlords", and levels would become more difficult with fewer and fewer walls available to hide behind.
