Holy Soldier Christian Metal Band

Holy Soldier was a heavy metal Christian band from Los Angeles in the mid 1980’s.  Before they signed with Myrhh Records in 1989, the band was known for evangelical songs played at secular venues, including the Hollywood nightclub Gazzarri’s.  Holy Soldier released their first album (self-titled) in 1990 (produced by David Zaffiro).  The album did well and earned the band two Dove Awards in 1991. 

Their follow-up album, 1992’s Last Train, did not do as well, but did make it to no. 10 on the Billboard CCM chart.  The band was criticized by some for veiling their Christian message on this second album in an effort to become more mainstream.  Myrhh dropped the band, but they continued on.  The band returned in the mid 1990’s with a new vocalist and more grunge-oriented sound, ultimately winning more Dove Awards.  In 1997, Holy Solder disbanded, but was known to play some reunion shows in the mid 2000’s.  The Holy Soldier Discography is as follows:
