With the last name "Jackson", if you were a performer in the 80's, people thought you were part of the Michael Jackson family. In this case, there was no relationship between Englishman David Ian Jackson (aka Joe Jackson) and the Jackson 5 (he would have been adopted anyway considering he is white).
Joe Jackson's first international hit, and one of our favorite 80's songs, was "Is She Really Going Out With Him", released on the 1979 album Look Sharp!. Other notable songs by Joe Jackson included "It's Different for Girls", a UK hit released in 1979 on the album I'm the Man, "Steppin' Out" and "Breakin' Us In Two" from 1982 (Night and Day), and "You Can't Get What You Want" from 1984 (Body & Soul).
As Joe Jackson's musical career moved on, his style moved away from pop and towards classical/jazz. Joe Jackson continued producing well into the 90's and 2000's, with new material with the old band as late as 2012. The Joe Jackson Discography is as follows:
